411’s WWE Sunday Night Heat Report 01.25.04

We’re here at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia for the Royal Rumble! Our hosts are Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Jonathan Coachman, Al Snow, Michael Cole, Tazz, Josh Mathews, Rue, Funaki, Terri, and probably a couple I forgot! Coach and Al welcome us LIVE…

Partial rundown of the card:

– Royal Rumble Match
– HHH vs. Shawn Michaels, World Heavyweight Title

Throw it down to Josh Mathews and Rue for

– Brock Lesnar vs. Hardcore Holly
– Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Recap of the Guerreros’ feud, Chavo’s mounting disappointment with Eddie, and Kurt Angle’s awesome weasel role as the middleman.

Michael Cole has an interview with Eddie Guerrero. Cole doubts Eddie going into his match against his own nephew, and finishes by wondering whether Eddie can in fact control his Latino Heat. Eddie cuts an AWESOME, intense promo worthy of transcription: “I can’t control my Latino heat, ese? Homes. I mean, come on. Gimme a break, ese vato! How would you feel if your entire family turned against you? How would you feel if the nephew that you grew up with like a brother turned his back on you and basically desecreated you? You would feel hurt, you would feel betrayed, and now, what I feel is anger! And yes, Michael, I am having a hard time controlling my temper. But you know what? I’m getting better at it, homes, yeah, ha, I believe I am. See, tonight, I’m gonna demonstrate that to you, to Chavito, and the whole world, man! I’m gonna control my temper, and I am gonna prove that I am the better man, homes. Not only that, but I’m gonna show Chavito that I’m the better wrestler. But after that, ese, I think it’ll be alright if I show Chavito [yells some Spanish phrase, couldn’t make it out] – In other words, Chavito, I’m gonna beat you up, ese!” Angry stare and off he goes. Michael Cole is put off by the intensity. I’m not.

Next up on the Hype Schedule is the Dudley Boyz vs. Evolution match.

Theodore Long cries foul about Mizark Henry’s spot in the Rumble to Funaki. “Theodore Long and Mark Henry will no longer be bamboozled by the man!”

Wrestlemania Recall sponsored by Stacker 2’s YJ Stinger, the official extreme energy drink of Wrestlemania XX: the Bodyslam Challenge

We’re back with Josh and Rue, who list our sponsors and then it’s a Kurt Angle interview with Funaki on his way to the Rumble entry draw room. “I’m not only gonna win it for just me; I’m gonna dedicate this win to all the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces, and nothing is gonna stop me. I am gonna win the Royal Rumble tonight.”

People continue to file into the CoreStates First Union Wachovia New Spectrum Center.

Back to Coach and Al and a video package of the HHH/Michaels feud.

Back to Josh and Rue with “Nothing Left to Lose” by Puddle of Mudd – still YOUR Rumble theme. They talk about the buzz in the air tonight.

Cole and Tazz are in the ring wearing two very nice suits. They build up the Royal Rumble match, and list the rules. The important development is that people will enter the ring at 90-second intervals.

Tazz’ Keys to Victory:
1. Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Stay Out of the Line of Fire
2. Conditioning: Stamina is important
3. Higher Number is Your Best Friend: duh

Rundown of the card:
– Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero
