411’s WWE Table for 3 Report: WCW vs nWo

-Original air date: 08/07/17

-Seems this is being billed as the season premier though I assume it was also filmed during WrestleMania weekend. This time we have Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, and Diamond Dallas Page to rehash the Monday Night War and get into the nWo angle.

-DDP is sitting in the middle seat which means he is likely leading this conversation. Sure enough he asks how the other 2 are doing in what is the normal small talk we get with these shows. Hall says he isn’t where he wants to be, but he is much better than where he used to be. They compliment Waltman on how good he looks and we get a pic of in shape he is. He says has stopped putting garbage in his body and fees better than he has ever in his life. The food arrives and then get on DDP as they don’t think he will eat it since it isn’t organic.

-DDP brings up that The Monday Night War is all over the Network and he laughs as he knows it is skewed a little bit. That makes Hall mention that the victor writes the rules. DDP corrects as he says history is written by the winners. DDP says he is 1 of 4 people that knew Hall was showing up on Nitro and they show the moment. Still awesome!

-Hall says Larry Z is the one responsible for the success of the nWo. He was going to do what they wanted and they wanted him to cut a promo. Larry is the one that said that wouldn’t work as it needed to be like a shoot. He wanted him to come through the crowd and interrupt a match. Waltman says he would have been pissed if he was Enos or Doll as they had their match interrupted, but that is what made it work so well.

-Page says that Bischoff wanted to bring Nash in and call him Axel. Oh my! Page told Bischoff that Nash was already a cool name, so why mess with it. Hall says that is the first time he has ever heard that story and he just knew Gene was calling them The Outsiders and he thought that was sweet. He told the merch people he didn’t want “The Outsiders” and just wanted the shirts to say “Outsiders.” They discuss the chaos of the nWo beating up the roster and spray painting people. Waltman mentions that a lot of guys didn’t want to have the spray paint deal done and Hall says they weren’t drawing anything until the nWo came. Take the paint now and when you get one over on the nWo then it will be bigger.

-They jump to The Wolfpac trying to get DDP to join, but before he could he was hit by Hogan and Rodman with a chair. Hall was impressed with Rodman because he knew what to do between the moves. He knew how to back off and do little things. They also put over Karl Malone for what he did and that leads to DDP talking about Malone’s basketball career. Hall tells him to stop kissing up to Malone and talk about wrestling. Some bleeped words are thrown around and Waltman jokes this happens every time he has something to say and then he forgets.

-DDP wants to know where the survey idea came from and before answering the show Hall doing his most famous survey at SuperBrawl in San Fran where 90% of the crowd was jacked for the nWo. Waltman jokes that it was a way for him to bury WCW even more. Hall says that it was close most nights and there were a lot of towns that cheered for WCW. Hall then says that Waltman leaving is what shifted the scale and it is proven that he changed the ratings. Oh come on now! Waltman jumping back was a big deal, but that ship was changing due to the rise of Austin and his feud with McMahon.

-They show the moment and Waltman cuts the best promo of his career. Hall says that it was at that point that he realized he was done helping. He was pissed they fired Waltman by FedEx while he was at home with a broken neck. Waltman says he understands and he knows they weren’t the easiest guys to work with and Hall says that he felt he got along with everyone.

-DDP brings up that the Network has immortalized them as new generation can watch the Monday Night War. Hall thinks it is great as cans come up to him and mention they have seen older matches and angles.

-They discuss the idea of a real brand split between WCW and the nWo. Hall says he thought they were getting an hour of Saturday Night. DDP brings up now we have SmackDown vs RAW. Waltman says they keep doing this over and over because it works. They show Vince announcing the latest brand split. Waltman says the split works as they guys are competitive even if they are on the same team. Hall says both shows are live so they need to quit bitching about a lack of a push and if you are good enough than show it even with the few minutes of TV you get.

-DDP brings up Hall getting into the Hall of Fame and asks Hall if feels the nWo should get the nod as a group like The Horsemen did. I think that would have happened by now, but Hogan’s issues put that on hold. Hall thinks Ric being the only 2 time Hall of Famer is cool, but the nWo should be there. He thinks it needs to be the original 3 at first and if they want more then fine. Hall mentions he had “Scott Hall” engraved inside his ring and if the nWo goes in, he will put “Razor Ramon.”

-Waltman says that DDP is not a Hall of Fame wrestler, but is a Hall of Fame person. Hall says that DDP saved his life. He has changed it for the better and has had an amazing impact on people all over the world. DDP tells the story that inside his ring he put “Work Ethic = Dreams! DDP.” DDP believes anyone can get what they want as long as they help other people get what they want. They show the end of DDP’s Hall of Fame speech.

-Hall brings up that next they have to get Waltman in the Hall of Fame and he says he is in no hurry. Hall tells them that he loves them and we end on that touching note.

-Fun show that didn’t tell us anything really new, but at this point there isn’t much more to say about the Monday Night Wars. Still, listening to guys talk about their turn in the sun is always fun.
