As noted previously, an American flag flew off WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, on Saturday night, hit a power line, and caught fire.
Earlier today, Eversource reported there were more than 4,000 outages in Greenwich and 2,700 in Stamford Sunday evening (around 6 p.m.). The outages, per Eversource, were resolved in the early hours of Monday morning.
While 5,000 customers in Stamford lost power instantaneously, Eversource managed to restore power for nearly 3,000 consumers within 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, Stamford Deputy Fire Chief Matt Palmer has since confirmed the incident, noting that a large flag flew off the WWE headquarters on Saturday evening at 8:44 p.m.
Palmer revealed that the flag lodged itself on high-voltage wires neighboring the Metro North train tracks close to the intersection of Atlantic and Manhattan streets and near the Stamford Train Station. He conceded that the fire department could do little except monitor the situation and inform the power authorities.
