As previously reported, WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer suffered a legitimate ankle injury that’s been incorporated into her storyline with Raquel Rodriguez on WWE TV. Dave Meltzer provided more details on Vaquer’s injury and her upcoming match with Rodriguez on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
With regards to Vaquer’s ankle injury, Meltzer stated, “She has a legitimate injury, but it’s a minor injury. It’s not as big an injury as they are playing up.”
Meltzer also explained that Rodriguez and Vaquer were originally planned to have a matchup in the next two weeks. However, it’s unknown if Vaquer will be ready to go by then. He explained, “Yeah, they were supposed to have a match in a week or two. I don’t know if she’s going to be ready by then, so we’ll see. I mean, obviously, they’re having a match as soon as she’s ready.”
Meltzer added on when Stephanie Vaquer will be cleared, “I know they were supposed to do a match on TV in the next two weeks. I didn’t get the date, but I don’t know that it’s going to be quite as soon. But I heard that she was going to be cleared pretty quick. So, it’s a minor injury.”
During last night’s WWE Raw, Vaquer was once again attacked by Rodriguez, who took Vaquer’s title belt and whipped it over her rival’s ankle. WWE has not yet announced when their matchup will take place.
Vaquer signed with WWE in 2024. In 2025, she made WWE history as the first woman to hold both the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship simultaneously.
