Backstage Note On Who Scouts Talent For WWE Tryouts

WWE is hosting their latest WWE tryout this week, and a new report has some background context on who scouts talent and more. As noted, the latest tryouts are taking place in Orlando, Florida. The attendees include Notorious Mimi, Braxton Promise, The Dropouts, Tessa Johnston and more.

A new Fightful Select Answers Q&A featured a fan question about the behind the scenes aspects. The question asked who handles the scouting and recruitment for the tryouts to determine who gets invitations. According to Sean Ross Sapp, Gabe Sapolsky is the person who “primarily scouts and wrangles talent.” Sapp notes that Sapolsky is a very busy person as he travels to scout talent.

The report adds that several talent get advice about coming into the tryouts, what they need to work on and the like, and that there are definitely those (e.g. trainers who run schools and promotions) who put in good word for some talent to get tryouts.

The Q&A also had a question about whether there are plans for a tryout in East Asia, to which it was said there hasn’t been any word at all. Sapp noted that if one were to happen it would likely be on tours in that area, but there has been no word of any such expansion at this time.
