Backstage Status Update on Danhausen and His AEW Contract

Fightful Select Answers Q&A had an update on Danhausen after a fan asked if there was any chance of seeing the very nice, very evil wrestler take part in the 2026 Royal Rumble. Sean Ross Sapp noted that this would not be the case after AEW extended Danhausen’s contract recently
As previously reported, Danhausen’s AEW contract was originally set to expire on July 1, but months were reportedly added onto his contract that take him “well into” 2026. The latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A notes that AEW extended Danhausen’s contract due to injury. However, it’s said there are “absolutely no plans to use him,” and the wrestler wanted to be let go by AEW.
Danhausen hasn’t appeared in AEW or ROH since Final Battle 2024, where he cursed Mason Madden. It was his first appearance on AEW/ROH TV in months. He’s still been active on the independents, recently working the CAP 8th Annual Major Pod Holiday Toy Drive, WrestlePro Very Nice Very Evil, and GCW/GMW Green Mountains And Me events.
It’s currently unknown if Danhausen will ever return to AEW TV before his current contract expires.
