Backstage Update on AEW Status of Trey Miguel After Announcing Break From Wrestling

As previously reported, Trey Miguel announced today via his Instagram Stories that he’s taking a break from wrestling, but he asked fans to continue supporting The Rascalz. It was reported earlier that all four members of the group had signed with AEW last week. However, Miguel did not appear on last night’s AEW Collision: Maximum Carnage with the group.

Fightful Select has more details on what happened with Trey Miguel. According to the report, Miguel was released from his AEW contract “in the last few days.”

Miguel’s earlier contract with TNA Wrestling had expired at the end of last year, and he was signed to AEW along with Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Myron Reed. However, it’s said he was released just over a week later, hence his absence from last night’s Collision broadcast, which was filmed on January 14. At the time, it was reiterated to Fightful that, although Miguel wasn’t backstage, all four members of the group had signed with AEW.

Fightful notes that the reason for Miguel’s release is unknown, but it’s said that AEW remains on amicable terms with the wrestler. All four members of the group had recently reunited in TNA Wrestling last year.

Miguel had been in the promotion since 2018, not joining Wentz and Xavier when they went to WWE NXT, though he did work multiple matches in NXT as part of the TNA crossover in 2024 and 2025. During his run in TNA (formerly Impact Wrestling), Miguel became a two-time X-Division Champion, a one-time Tag Team Champion with Wentz.
