Backstage Update on Rumored Main Event Plans for WWE TLC

November 24, 2020 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

As previously reported, it was rumored by F4WOnline.com that the scheduled Raw main event for TLC 2020 is Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman for the WWE Championship. However, it appears Braun Strowman has been taken out of that equation due to events that took place on Raw. He attacked Adam Pearce, and today, WWE announced an in-storyline “indefinite suspension” for Strowman. Dave Meltzer addressed the developments on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

Currently, a Triple Threat Match is scheduled for next week’s Raw between AJ Styles, Keith Lee, and Riddle, and the winner is scheduled to challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at TLC. Meltzer stated that one of the things he heard yesterday (Nov. 23) afternoon was “that there was nothing definitive for TLC.”

However, Meltzer stated that the one thing that he was told was booked for TLC was the previously rumored McIntyre vs. Strowman matchup. Also, the rumored Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns title match appears to be up in the air for the pay-per-view card, and that matchup could be moved to Royal Rumble 2021. He added, “I was told they have no card except Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman. That’s the only thing — even Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan, which at least as of this afternoon was scheduled, it could be on WWE TLC, but it’s not necessarily on TLC. It could also be at Royal Rumble. That’s kind of up to decisions that have yet to be made.”

Meltzer went on that he has not heard an update on what is going on with TLC since he watched last night’s Raw. He speculated on how WWE could potentially bring Strowman into the title matchup, even though he was excluded from the No. 1 contender qualifying matches on last night’s USA Network broadcast. Granted, it’s still possible WWE could make changes in the angle to bring Strowman back into the world title picture before the upcoming event.

WWE TLC is slated for Sunday, December 20. It will be held at Tropicana Field and will be broadcast live on the WWE Network.
