Backstage Update On Plans For Chelsea Green Amid Injury

Chelsea Green is currently dealing with an injury, and a new report has an update on how WWE plans to handle the situation. The Interim WWE Women’s Champion suffered a broken orbital bone during last week’s WWE Smackdown during a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match against Fatal Influence. The injury was unfortunate timing, coming less than a week after she won the title at WWE SummerSlam.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, a source has indicated that WWE is not looking to change take the title off of Green or remove her from TV. The plan as of Wednesday was for her to appear on this week’s WWE Smackdown.

Green is expected to be out of action for a number of weeks. WWE is said to be “optimistic” about her injury status.

The non-Interim WWE Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley, is also out of action due to injury and underwent knee surgery. She is expected to be out for several months.
