According to a report by WrestlePurists, Billy Gunn clarified why he’s not being booked on AEW TV at the moment. Gunn had recently made statements during a recent interview with Fuel & Flex, noting that he still has stress fractures in his back (h/t Fightful).

However, the update from WrestlePurists notes that the stress fractures are an old injury that Gunn has been dealing with “for years.” Per the statement from Gunn’s rep, “Billy is fine, this is a very old injury that he has dealt with for years. It does not interfere with wrestling or training. It just gets sore if he trains too heavy or hard. Attached is a video today showing everyone he is ok.”

The message adds, “Because of the internet, our phones have been blowing up asking if his back is hurt. His absence from AEW is due to him not being booked by creative.” It also included a video of Gunn walking and moving around, showing that his back is okay, and he looks to be ready to work.

Billy Gunn Last Appeared on AEW TV in August

Billy Gunn hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since the August 23 episode of Collision. After Anthony Bowens started beating down his former tag team partner, Max Caster, Gunn came out to the ring to make the save, telling Bowens to back off.

Bowens was later forced to team up with Caster by Jerry Lynn. The team, who are not The Acclaimed, has recently picked up two back-to-back wins on Collision, last defeating Bryan Keith and Big Bill on October 8.
