Brandi Rhodes Reflects on Training for WWE In-Ring Return, Explains Why She Decided Against It

Brandi Rhodes spent two weeks training at the WWE Performance Center about two years ago, as she planned on making a full-time return to the ring in WWE. However, she ultimately decided against it for personal reasons.
WWE Superstar and former US Champion Carmelo Hayes recently joined Brandi Rhodes on the latest A Shot of Brandi, where Hayes mentioned seeing Brandi Rhodes train at the WWE Performance Center and “beating the hell” out of the other women there “a couple years ago.” According to Brandi, she was contemplating making an in-ring return and joining WWE as a wrestler, but she ultimately decided not to move forward with it.
Brandi revealed that because of her young daughter, Liberty, constantly reaching out to her, she couldn’t be away from her and take the time to follow up with the WWE PC
Brandi stated, “So I was wanting to come back fully in the full swing because I had Liberty [her daughter], and I felt like I was ready to be back wrestling full-time and you know whatever. So I went to PC. They had me there for like two weeks, and here’s what happened. I had a great time; I enjoyed it so much. I worked a lot with Norman [Smiley], and Fit [Finlay], and a lot of the girls that are on there right now, super awesome, great.”
She continued, “Every time I stepped out of the ring, my daughter [*motions reaching out to her*], crying, holding onto me, it was very hard. It was very hard, and I did not do the follow-up to get into the ring as I should have because I felt like I didn’t think I could do it, and that’s the truth.”
Brandi added, “I don’t think I could live on a bus with this kid needing me 24/7 when I’m hurt. Because they don’t reach for dad. They reach for mom. So I’m sure I could have Becky [Lynch] on here and have her tell how she’s able to do it because I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t hang.”
Cody Rhodes and Brandi also welcomed their second daughter, Leilani Ella Runnels, last year.
