Braxton Sutter recently spoke with WrestleZone’s Lovell Porter, here are some highlights…

On His Path to Impact: It took a really long time. My story was a little different. I didn’t get my break in Impact until I was in my mid 30’s so it was late in age, you know what I mean? For me, I had to just focus in. After I was wrestling for over 10 years and I was over 30 I realized that no one is going to do this for me. I change a lot of things and started working a lot harder. I started traveling more too. I went to the U.K. with Global Force Wrestling and I went to Smash Wrestling in Canada. I did a few dates with Impact as well. It was after the last week of a three-week tour they offered me a contract.

On The Changes in Management & Reports of Low Morale: Since I have been there management has changed a bunch. Honestly, it hasn’t really felt like major changes. When I first got there the big thing on the internet was that there was low morale backstage at Impact. I never experienced it. There was one time we were filming one of the smaller shows and Earl Hebner did a Ric Flair spot and everyone backstage lost it. I remember Hurricane Shane Helms grabbing me and screaming, “Low moral! Low morale!” I would imagine that it was just someone who left the company who complained. Even with all of the changes I have never seen a negative effect. There is never much to complain about.

On Working With Allie: Well for one, I am not that big of a proponent of marriage and two I am not big on dating in the wrestling business, but I can’t really say that anymore since I have done both those things (laughs). I’ve always been so heavily involved in pro wrestling that I haven’t dated anyone except my wife (Allie) in the business. All my relationships ended terribly because they didn’t understand it. Now, we have an understanding with everything we do. For us, it works so perfectly. I may be just old and lazy now, but I love traveling with my wife. I don’t drink as much, and I get tired at night now (laughs). We have both been in the business so long that no one in the back oversteps or acts inappropriately. There is a rule that, especially if you are on the indies that you shouldn’t bring your girlfriend or wife around the locker room. I’ve seen all that stuff but never gone through it.

On The Recent Change in His Character: It’s hard to pinpoint it. When I had been wrestling on the indies for 10 years I noticed that I was just doing the same things. I needed to make some changes. It’s the same thing in Impact. I wasn’t on TV as much as I would have liked to be so like I said no one is going to make the changes for me, so I have to do it myself. My favorite thing is to be in front of a crowd with a live mic. Everything has been my idea of how I would like to change things up. Hopefully, it will lead to some bigger matches with people like Eli Drake and (Alberto) El Patron, so forth.
