Reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman and former champion Yota Tsuji got things started early at today’s NJPW Dominion press conference ahead of their title rematch at Sunday’s event. During a heated confrontation, Newman ended up slamming Tsuji through a table (see below).
At one point, Newman got in Tsuji’s face, demanding he sign the bout agreement for the title rematch. Tsuji signs it, and then Newman begins attacking the former champion, ultimately putting him through the press conference table.
NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi was present for the melee and got up to stand aside while the brawl ensued. Newman then signed the bout agreement and stood over Tsuji, holding the contract and title belt high. Newman then left the press conference stage while Tanahashi and New Japan officials checked on Tsuji.
Yota Tsuji will get his opportunity at some payback and a chance to regain his title when he faces off against Callum Newman tomorrow in the main event at NJPW Dominion 2026. Tomorrow’s show takes place at Osaka-jo Hall in Osaka, Japan. It will stream live on NJPW World.
