Former AEW TNT Champion Christian Cage recently reflected on his “I Quit” Match against Adam Copeland from March 2024.

The current allies battled in a brutal “I Quit Match” for the AEW TNT Championship on the March 20, 2024, episode of Dynamite. The violent match eventually ended with Cage stating the two dreaded words and dropping the title to the Rated-R Superstar.

However, in a recent interaction with Jimmy V3, Christian Cage claimed that he said, “I don’t quit,” and that the match official “misheard” him.

“I just want to put something on the record. I said, ‘I don’t quit.’ The referee misheard me. Just don’t want to put that on the record,” he said. [H/T: Fightful]

After years of feuding with each other, Christian Cage and Adam Copeland joined forces on AEW television a few months ago. They battled Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood in a tag team match in front of their home fans in Canada at this year’s All Out PPV. Though they emerged victorious over FTR, the latter had the last laugh, as Cash and Dax attacked Copeland’s wife, Beth Phoenix, after the match.

On the following episode of AEW Dynamite, Copeland told Cage that he would have to leave for the sake of his family. He has yet to return to weekly programming since then.
