CM Punk Believes People Are Overlooking Striking of Ben Askren Against Jake Paul
– TMZ Sports recently spoke to former WWE Superstar CM Punk, who shared his thoughts on the upcoming boxing match between former UFC fighter Ben Askren and Jake Paul. The pay-per-view boxing match is set for later tonight in Atlanta, Georgia.
Punk previously trained with Ben Askren for his short-lived MMA career. Before joining MMA, Askren became a two-time Division I NCAA champion. He also competed in the 2008 Olympic Games in freestyle wrestling.
When asked if people are overlooking Askren’s striking, Punk stated, “I think so. But, I think it’s easy to do. It’s easy to sit on your couch and say that Ben isn’t a striker.” He added, “I know a lot of people are counting him out, but I don’t think anybody should be surprised if he wins.”
Punk and Askren previously trained together at Roufusport. Punk fought twice in the UFC, going 0-2. Meanwhile, Askren retired from MMA after going 1-2 in the UFC, after he was finished in back-to-back fights against welterweight contenders Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia.
