* Csonka: Jeff Jarrett is The Smartest Man in Wrestling.
* Csonka’s Top 6 Slammiversary Main Events.
* Csonka’s Impact Slammiversary Preview.
* Csonka’s Impact Slammiversary Review.

– We open with LAX in their clubhouse, drinking booze and playing dominoes. Konnan promises a new member of LAX tonight.

– We get highlights from what was a good Slammiversary PPV.

Alberto El Patron’s Championship Celebration: Patron is out with his father Dos Caras and his bother, El Hijo de Dos Caras. Patron is here to party and celebrate his victory, noting that Latinos and Mexicans don’t need a real reason to party but that when thy do they do it with family. He introduces his brother, who he says will be joining him here soon. He puts over his father as his mentor and hero, and then says Sunday night was the hardest 30-minutes of his life. Patron says Lashley is a tough son of a bitch and he respects him. He says any wrestler can have an opportunity to face him and he will give them a shot. If you want a piece of Patron come and get it. Lashley has had enough of this celebration bullshit and calls Patron an egomaniac. Lashley says he didn’t have any of this bullshit when he won the title, he just fought and defended the title. Lashley says Patron won via fluke at Slammiversary. He questions if his relatives are even allowed to be here and drops a building a wall reference. Dos Caras slaps Lashley, and Lashley says Caras hits harder than Patron. Scott D’Amore and refs are out to break it up. Patron says lets do it now bitch. Solid opening segment, but I am not high on them jumping right to the rematch, it feels like something they could have taken a few weeks to build to.

– Earlier today Prichard met with JB, Mathews and The Pope. Prichard asks if they are done with their issues and says e could have fired them. If they continue to bicker and get into a physical altercation, they will both be fired. Prichard included Pope in this as well. What the fuck was the point of the feud if they are still going to work together on commentary?

– PopTV’s The Swole Mates are in the crowd.

X-Division Champion Sonjay Dutt vs. Caleb Konley: They work some back and forth, with Dutt hitting a RANA. Elbows follow, but Konley hits a big palm strike and then lays the boots to Dutt. Konley grounds Dutt, and then lays in some kicks. Konley then works the grounded body scissors, and works into a cradle for 2. Dutt tries to fire up but runs into a clothesline. Dutt slams Konley to the buckles, but Konley grounds him with a cravat. Konley then hits a sunset flip to the buckles, covering for 2. Dutt finally cuts Konley off and rolls into a dropkick and hits the tornado DDT. Dutt up top and hits the splash for the win. Champion Sonjay Dutt defeated Caleb Konley @ 4:42 via pin [**¾] This was a short, but pretty good opener. They kept a good pace, with Konley looking good and getting a lot in. Dutt retains and looks to have his next program locked in with Lee.

– Post match, Trevor Lee lays out Dutt, steals the X-Division title and proclaims himself the new champion.

– Mackenzie interviews Eddie Edwards, Veterans of War & Grado about their match, which is next. Dick Justice was randomly working out in the background.

Eddie Edwards, Veterans of War (Mayweather & Wilcox) & Grado vs. Eli Drake, Chris Adonis, Fallah Bahh and Mario Bokara: Drake and Wilcox to begin. Drake tries to shove him around and then runs into a Samoan drop. Mayweather tags in, the VOW double-teams Drake and Mayweather then hits an overhead toss. Adonis tags in, but gets rushed to the corner and VOW work him over. Bokara in and he easily gets taken out. Bahh sent to the floor, Grado tags in working the jabs but Adonis cuts him off. Bahh now tags in, lays in the head butts on Grado and then slams Bokara onto Grado. Grado escapes the slam, tags in Eddie and he runs wild. Eddie hits the kick, but Baahh takes him out with the running cross body. Grado back in, works jabs to Bahh and sends him to the floor. Drake cuts off Grado, the VOW take him out and Eddie hits a code breaker on Adonis, and the running knee strike finishes Bokara. Eddie Edwards, Veterans of War (Mayweather & Wilcox) & Grado defeated Eli Drake, Chris Adonis, Fallah Bahh and Mario Bokara @ 4:50 via pin [**] This was a solid match, but way too rushed. It never had a chance to settle in and felt chaotic in a bad way.

– Post match, Joseph Park arrives and he has some bad news for Grado. Park reveals that some paper work and it appears that Grado’s Visa is not in order. Grado begs Park to help, but Park tells him he has to leave.

Matt Sydal vs. Braxton Sutter w/Allie: They lock up and Sutter takes Sydal to the corner. Sutter then works some arm drags, and stays a step ahead, constantly cutting off Sydal and hitting a gut buster. Sutter then works over Sydal in the corner; Sydal starts to fire back with leg kicks and then a jumping sidekick. Sydal then counters the powerslam into the final cut leg drop. Sutter fires back and hits the snap slam. Sydal fires back, hits a kick and heads up top and finishes Sutter with the shooting star press. Matt Sydal defeated Braxton Sutter @ 3:15 via pin [**] This was a perfectly solid outing with Sydal keeping his momentum with the win.

– Post match, Allie checks on Sutter but he pulls away from her and tells her it’s time to go. Hmmmm…

– LAX continues to party in their clubhouse and tease the new member of LAX. Konnan says they will raise their level of violence tonight.

THE SUPER X-CUP RETURNS: Borash announces the return of the Super X-Cup, and the participants are – Davey Richards, Andrew Everett, Idris Abraham, Desmond Xavier, Taiji Ishimori, ACH, Drago, and Sammy Guevara. The first round matches are…

* Sammy Guevara vs. Drago
* ACH vs. Andrew Everett
* Taiji Ishimori vs. Davey Richards
* Idris Abraham vs. Desmond Xavier

I am happy to see the Super X-Cup return, and the lineup has some potential.

– They even had some short profile videos for the guys.

Idris Abraham vs. Desmond Xavier: They work some slower back and forth to begin, Xavier starts to pick up the pave and starts to take control. Idris cuts him off with a running kick and follows with a suicide dive. Back in and Xavier quickly fights back, but gets cut off quickly as Idris hits a suplex to the buckles and covers for 2 and we take a commercial. After what felt like a longer than usual commercial break, we came back to Idris raking the eyes and maintaining control on Xavier. Idris works a really band heat here; just lacking any real energy. Xavier fires up with strikes and kicks, the cutter follows. Xavier slams Idris to the buckles, hits the German suplex for a good near fall. Idris hits some running forearms, and then the rolling forearm for 2. Xavier counters the back suplex and then gets rushed to the corner. Idris misses a charge, eats a superkick and Saito suplex. Xavier hits the spiral tap for the win. Desmond Xavier defeated Idris Abraham @ 11:57 via pin [**¾] Pretty good match, it took a bit to get going, and the 4-minute commercial break really killed the momentum. They worked really hard, and it wasn’t a bad way to kick off the tournament.

– Mackenzie interviews Gail Kim, she has a big announcement to make next week.

– Xavier cuts a short promo about his win, the Super X Cup will be his.

– Mackenzie interviews Moose, who will defend the Grand Championship against Naomichi Marufuji next week. EC3 arrives and feels he deserves a title shot. Moose says EC3 won’t skip ahead in line and needs to wait his turn. EC3 says when he sees something he wants he takes it.

GFW Unified Women’s Champion Sienna vs. Rebel: Rebel recently toured with STARDOM in Japan. KM is out with Sienna. Sienna attacks at the bell and beats down Rebel with ease. Sienna chokes her out in the ropes, and then follows with chops. Rebel eventually avoids a charge, hits a kick but Sienna cuts off the back handspring elbow and hits a German. Sienna hits the Samoan drop, Rebel gets a cradle but Sienna kicks out. Rebel fires up with rights and kicks, follows with a corner charge and corner knees. She hits the handspring into a clothesline. Rebel up top and decides to dive onto KM, who almost drops her. Back in and Sienna locks in the guillotine and Rebel taps. GFW Unified Women’s Champion Sienna defeated Rebel @ 3:25 via submission [*¾] This was not horrible, Sienna is great and Rebel has improved. Her hope spots were laid out at the ring time and solidly executed. KM continues to be completely useless.

GFW Unified Champion Alberto el Patron vs. Lashley: Lashley charges right away, but Patron sidesteps him and lays in kicks in the corner. Lashley explodes out with a lariat and sends Patron to the floor. Lashley is pissed off; slamming Patron to he steps and then back in Lashley covers for 2. Lashley whips Patron to the corners repeatedly, and then follows with strikes and beats Patron down in the corner. Patron tries to fire up but gets tosses to the floor as we take a break. Post break and Lashley is still in control. Lashley looks for the spear but patron cuts him off with a dropkick and then hits the back stabber. Patron then hits a 619 and covers for 2. They work a counter spot, but Lashley couldn’t get Patron up for the powerbomb counter, so he just grabs him and powerbombs him, covering for 2. Patron attacks the arm but Lashley hits a spinebuster for 2. Patron cuts off a charging Lashley, and then hits a double stomp to the back and that gets 2. Lashley fights back, hitting a neck breaker and covering for 2. Lashley hits the corner spear. Lashley puts Patron in the tree of WHOA, heads up top and looks for a double stomp but Patron pulls him off the ropes. Patron up top and leaps off into spear! Lashley then hits the dominator and celebrates. He sets for the spear… but LAX arrives and they jump Lashley for the DQ Lashley defeated Champion Alberto el Patron @ 15:10 via DQ [***] This was a good main event, they worked together better than at Slammiversary and it had less bullshit until the end. The LAX tease is a solid hook for next week as well.

– LAX beats Lashley down, and Konnan cuts a promo during the beat down and says they are more dangerous than ever before and announces Patron as the newest member of LAX. They pull him up and celebrate, but Patron is too out of it to confirm that he is joining the group.

Next week

* Will Patron Join LAX?
* Impact Grand Champion Moose vs. Naomichi Marufuji
* Gail Kim’s Announcement
* Octagoncito vs. Demus 3:16

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Tonight’s Impact was a solid, but forgettable follow up to a good and strong Slammiversary PPV. I like the return of the Super X Cup and the LAX tease to close the show was also good. EC3 looks focused, for now, on the Grand Championship, which could be interesting. But the formatting of the show felt overly rushed and chaotic, with the angles getting little time to settle in and the matches not getting a lot of time. We’ll see how things play out over the next few weeks, but I felt they needed a stronger post PPV effort here.
