Csonka’s Impact Xplosion Review 8.25.18

OFFICIAL RESULTS
– Su Yung defeated Diamante @ 4:25 via pin [**]
From TNA Hard Justice 2011: Kurt Angle defeated Champion Sting @ 15:25 via pin [**½]

– Follow all of my reviews at this link.

Su Yung vs. Diamante: It feels like forever since I’ve actually seen Diamante wrestle, and she even has gear. Santana & Ortiz are at ringside. It’s a shame Diamante is injured again. Diamante attacks at the bell and takes control with strikes. The RANA follows and Yung powders to the floor. Diamante then hits a suicide dive. Back in and Diamante works over Yung with strikes until Yung cuts her off with a knee strike and draping pedigree for 2. Yung lays in ground and pound and covers for 2. Yung grounds the action, but Diamante escapees and they trade strikes. Diamante hits an enziguri and follows with a corner dropkick and follows with a springboard moonsault for 2. Diamante lays in kicks and Yung counters code red but Diamante counters panic switch. Palm strike by Yung and panic switch finishes it. Su Yung defeated Diamante @ 4:25 via pin [**] They didn’t get much time at all, but this was an ok match.

We go around the ring with Stone Rockwell. He’s an adventurer. Josh is a dick again tour friendly adventurer. Rockwell has a new whip and satchel. He’s quite the poker player, a cardsmith even. He offers Josh a position as his sidekick. Rockwell loves traveling by boat and has been talking to indie darlings to be a better wrestler. Kickpads are essential, as well as flips while yelling, “come on baby.” Rockwell questions Josh’s journalistic integrity, accuses him of being lost, and calls him Nancy. Rockwell hopes to be Impact champion within a few days. He just shows up and is hoping for a hot dog and a handshake.

Champion Sting vs. Kurt Angle: Despite the fact that Sting still had some go in him here, and Angle wasn’t a complete shell of himself just yet, this ended up a complete disappointment of a main event. The body of the match wasn’t horrible and the work was even good at times, but there was just no heat to this at all, like the fans knew that the old TNA fuck finish was coming. And it did, we got a ref bump, Hulk Hogan arriving with a chair, teasing hitting Sting with it, only for Angle to take it and hit Sting and pick up the shitty win. This was average at best and that may be generous. Kurt Angle defeated Champion Sting @ 15:25 via pin [**½]

From 8.23.18 – Crazy Eddie Edwards Talks: Edwards can admit that he’s gotten his ass beat recently, but he’s back standing in the ring. He’s looking for a fight, he may be crazy, but no one could have lived through all of the shit he’s been through without changing, and he likes the new him. He has nothing to lose, which makes him a dangerous person. He’s been dreaming of using his kendo stick against Aries & Kross, and wants to do that tonight. He calls them out and says if they don’t come out, he’ll come and find them. Aries & Kross arrive and Aries says they have no problem kicking his ass, because he’s the best; Edwards blew, it, and is crazy and stupid. Aries found someone even crazier and more dangerous in Kross. Edwards attacks as Aries monologues, and takes control until Aries chop blocks him. Kross chokes him out and Aries adds in a figure four. Referees arrive; Aries throws a shoe (who throws a shoe, really?), and they set up a chair and look to finish Edwards off… but Moose makes the save. Moose runs them off and the faces stand tall. This was a good segment, Edwards was really good here, it played off of his title loss, and Moose making the save works as he also recently lost to Aries and has a previously established friendship on screen with Edwards.

– End Scene.

– Thanks for reading.

This week’s episode of Impact Xplosion was a really average episode, with the only interesting/fun parts being Stone Rockwell and actually seeing Diamante compete. It’s far from bad, but also far from must-see TV.
