THIS IS A SINGLE CAM, NO COMMENTARY SHOW

Tiger Mask vs. BUSHI: BUSHI attacks as Tiger make his entrance; BUSHI is a dick. That knocks Tiger to the floor and BUSHI follows with the suicide dive. BUSHI then attacks with a chair and slams Tiger off of a table. Back in they go and BUSHI just uses the chair right in front of the ref to choke out Tiger. Tiger slowly fights him off and tries to battle back, but BUSHI cuts him off with a neck breaker. BUSHI then attacks the mask, and grounds the action. Tiger fights and makes the ropes for the break. BUSHI goes classic BUSHI and chokes out Tiger with his shirt and attacks the mask again. The basement dropkick follows for 2. BUSHI then hits the draping dropkick and that gets 2. The STF follows, but Tiger makes the ropes. The back breaker follows and Tiger now fires up with kicks and works into a kimura. He transitions to he arm bar, but BUSHI makes the ropes. More kicks by Tiger follow, but BUSHI fights of the Tiger driver and hits an enziguri. The missile dropkick follows, and the fisherman’s neck breaker gets 2. BUSHI heads up top, but Tiger cuts him off and follows him up but BUSHI crotches him. Tiger now crotches BUSHI and knocks him to the mat. The flying head butt misses for Tiger. BUSHI hits the code breaker for 2. BUSHI heads up top for the MX, but Tiger avoids and hits the tiger driver and that gets 2. Tiger lays in kicks, takes BUSHI up top and hits the butterfly superplex. The tiger suplex finishes it. Tiger Mask defeated BUSHI @ 11:29 via pin [**¾] OLD MAN TIGER MASK DOES IT AGAIN! In a way I absolutely love Tiger Mask getting the surprising early run, but then it reminds me of Liger’s jobfest last year, and makes me sad. Anyway, this was a pretty good match, the work was clean, but it felt very one note. There were no real peaks and valleys in terms of drama, but the final closing stretch was fun.

Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. ACH: Kanemaru attacks ACH during his entrance and that of course leads to a floor brawl. They work into the ring, ACH looks for a cartwheel counter, but his injured shoulder gives out and Kanemaru lays the boots to him. Kanemaru is in pure grumpy old man mode here, which is good because he works best at that. Kanemaru takes ACH to the floor, tosses him over the barricade and into some chairs, and we get a countout tease. ACH makes it back in, nut Kanemaru quickly attacks, focusing on the arm, and easily grounding ACH. Nice, solid, grumpy old man heat by Kanemaru here as ACH continues to sell. Kanemaru takes him back to the floor, and then posts his shoulder; ACH barely beats the count back in. ACH fires up with chops and slowly starts to make a comeback. He hits a one armed cartwheel and then lays in more chops. The standing double stomp and sliding dropkick follow for 2. ACH hits a desperation German for 2. Kanemaru quickly battles back with a DDT, and that gets 2. He follows with a corer clothesline, but ACH counters deep impact, and hits a huge lariat for 2. Kanemaru stuns ACH off the ropes but ACH hits a slingshot cutter and covers for 2. ACH rips off his shoulder tape and takes Kanemaru up top, hits a PELE and covers for 2. ACH heads up top and MISSES the 450. Kanemaru takes a drink of whiskey, mists ACH and hits a brainbuster for 2. Deep impact finishes it. Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated ACH @ 14:03 via pin [***] This was an overall good match, with Kanemaru playing the grumpy vet, while ACH sold his ass off and was the resilient babyface. It was a bit flat early, but the simple story played out well, and the crowd got into it in the closing stretch. Kanemaru eventually got frustrated, and had to dig into his bag of tricks to finally put ACH away.

Flip Gordon vs. Taiji Ishimori: they lock up and work for position, Ishimori attacks with kicks, but Flip fires back and they trade strikes. The dropkick takes Ishimori to the floor; Flip hits an apron PK and moonsault to the floor. Back in and Flip covers for 2. Flip lays in chops, but Ishimori cuts him off and hits the seated senton. Ishimori chokes him out in the corner, and then works a cravat. He grounds things and maintains control. Back to the cravat by Ishimori, he keeps it grounded, and then covers for 2. Flip fights to his feet, escapes, and hits a missile dropkick. The suicide dive follows and Flip brings it back in. He heads up top, and follows with a blockbuster for 2. Ishimori cuts him off and hits the sliding German. The rolling DVD and shining wizard connects for 2. They work into some counters; Flip hits a knee strike and does the deal with a falcon arrow for 2. Ishimori avoids the 450, but Flip hits Samoan pop. He misses the running shooting star press, allowing Ishimori to work a crossface. Flip powers out and sets Ishimori up top. Kinder surprise follows and then Flip’s 450 eats knees. Flip quickly counters back and gets a jackknife bridge and cradles Ishimori for the surprising win. Flip Gordon defeated Taiji Ishimori @ 9:30 via pin [***] This was a good back and forth match, with Flip picking up the huge upset and win. This is a huge win for Flip, as Ishimori has already defeated champion Will Ospreay.

Will Ospreay vs. Yoh: Yoh gets his first main event against champion Ospreay in a battle of the CHAOS lads. They work a very babyface beginning, looking to work holds and counters, and breaking clean; really nice, crisp, and clean work from both here, setting a nice pace and feel. Yoh turns the tide, and starts working his striking game. Ospreay quickly cuts him off and hits a 619, and takes time to pose. He then follows with uppercuts and chops; the back breaker gets 2. Ospreay now grounds the action, working arm submissions and keeping control. Yoh tries to fire up, hits an enziguri and follows with forearm strikes. The dropkick and superkick follow. Ospreay counters the suplex into a cradle, but Yoh counters into a dragon sleeper. Ospreay escapes and fires back with the back handspring kick. The Sasuke special follows to the floor. Back in and Ospreay hits the springboard forearm for 2. Yoh fights of the storm breaker attempt, but Ospreay hits the enziguri. The running shooting star press gets 2. They trade strikes center ring, Yoh fires up and lays in strikes to the previously injured neck of Ospreay, which allows the champion; Yoh folds him up with a German for 2. Ospreay fights off the dragon suplex, and hits the Robinson special. Yoh counters the Oscutter into a near fall. Yoh now takes Ospreay up top, follows him up and Ospreay knocks him to the mat. Yoh back up and slips on a superplex, which looked fucking rough, and he covers for 2. Ospreay tries to fight off a dragon suplex, and does, getting a cradle for 2. Ospreay hits a spin kick, but Yoh decapitates him with a lariat for the double down. Yoh then tries to fire up but runs into a Spanish fly; the storm breaker finishes it. Will Ospreay defeated Yoh @ 16:40 via pin [***½] While not a top-tier Ospreay match, I thought that this was a very good and tremendously fun babyface vs. babyface match that gave Yoh a lot before he lost. This was a strong way to close out night 5.

Night five of the 2018 NJPW BOTSJ was a good and consistent slate of matches, and while the standings are starting to get a bit more interesting, there was nothing must see today.
