Dana White Provides Update on Jake Hager’s Status Amid Recent Eye Injury

Dana White recently shared an update on Jake Hager amid the latter’s recent eye injury.

As noted, Hager lost to Johnny Magna via TKO in his latest Power Slap outing last Thursday. He sustained an eye injury following the slap and has since undergone emergency surgery.

Speaking at the latest post-fight press conference, Dana White revealed that Jake Hager is set to visit a specialist in Miami shortly. He also commented on whether any measures could be taken to prevent such injuries in the future.

Here’s what he said:

On Jake Hager’s current status

“He went into emergency surgery that night, and then we’re sending him to a specialist down in Miami.”

On whether such injuries can be prevented in the future

“There’s lot of unfortunate things that happen in combat sports. Those two kids (who fought on Contender Series) couldn’t stay here tonight and are in the hospital. I mean, it’s a contact sport; it happens. And what you do is, you make sure that you do all the proper medical testing before the fight. You have the right guys there during the fight. And you take care of these kids after the fight. It’s the biggest priority for me. Other than having great fights, the only thing I really give a sh*t about is that these kids are all safe and healthy.”
