Dave Meltzer believes AEW could be heading toward a major three-way World Tag Team Championship match at All In at Wembley Stadium. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage captured the AEW World Tag Team Titles at AEW Double or Nothing after defeating FTR in an ‘I Quit’ match.
Had Copeland and Cage lost the match, both men would have been forced into retirement under the stipulation.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said the fallout from Double or Nothing opened the door to several possible directions for the tag team division. One of the ideas discussed involved FTR, The Young Bucks, and the current champions, Cope and Christian (via Wrestling Inc).
“It was a great match, and it opens up a lot of possibilities. I mean, obviously them and the Young Bucks are going to have something and obviously FTR and them maybe they’ll do a three-way at Wembley. I think people have been talking about a three-way at Wembley since the start of the year.”
He also noted that AEW made the correct decision by putting the championships on Copeland and Cage heading into the company’s biggest event of the year.
Speculation has continued about the possibility of all four teams being involved in a match referencing the iconic TLC bout from WrestleMania X-Seven. That match featured Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boyz, and The Dudley Boyz, and became one of WWE’s most remembered tag team matches.
