WWE has stacked up the card for tomorrow’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. Apart from John Cena’s retirement match against Gunther, the show will feature several exciting matchups. In the latest installment of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer gave his views and predicted the outcomes of these matches.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will go one-on-one with newly crowned NXT Champ Oba Femi in what is expected to be a mouthwatering matchup between the current and the future main event star. According to Dave Meltzer, The Ruler will likely dominate the proceedings, even though Cody will most probably end up victorious. He believes that the only way Oba would win is if WWE wants to set up a match at the Royal Rumble for The American Nightmare.
Also at Saturday Night’s Main Event, former NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca will battle former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley. Commenting on this match, Meltzer said that the NXT star should emerge victorious.
The World Tag Team Championship will also be on the line at SNME, with AJ Styles and Dragon Lee defending their gold against the exciting duo of Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater.
With four exceptional performers involved, this is set to be an immensely entertaining match. While Meltzer admits that a title change is unlikely to happen, he has called for WWE to pull the trigger on Evans and Slater and let them win the championship. He believes that the duo’s youthful exuberance and their flair are something that the main roster can do with at the moment.
Saturday Night’s Main Event will emanate from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., from 8:00 p.m. ET. As expected, Cena’s farewell match will headline the show.
Card for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event:
– Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi
– Bayley vs. Sol Ruca
– AJ Styles & Dragon Lee (c) vs. Leon Slater & Je’Von Evans for the World Tag Team Championship
