Dave Sahadi Explains His WWE Exit, When He Knew It Was Time To Leave

During a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, former WWE production crew member and Creative Director Dave Sahadi discussed his WWE exit in the early 2000s and why he knew it was time to leave. He also discussed a tense situation with former Executive Vice President of Television Production. Kevin Dunn.

According to Sahadi, he gave his notice to WWE of his exits six weeks beforehand. However, he believes Dunn instead waited to tell former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon about his exit just days before, so it would help him look better. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):

“It came to an end because the company had gotten so big … and become very corporat. When it became corporate, it became sterile. And we also lost the competition in WCW, and it became kind of like – when you lose your number-one competitor, or any competitor, you kind of tend to rest on your laurels. Iron sharpens iron, but we had no iron anymore.”

“I think Kevin Dunn spun it in a way to make Kevin look good. It makes Kevin look bad if one of the top guys is leaving under Kevin’s watch.”

Sahadi’s book about his experiences in the wrestling business, Backstage Pass: Tales from Beyond the Squared Circle, was released earlier this month.
