Drew McIntyre Says His Time Away From WWE Allowed Him to Grow, Talks Super Show-Down

– Drew McIntyre spoke with ESPN for a new interview promoting this weekend’s WWE Super Show-Down. Highlights are below, per WZ’s Tyler Treese:

On his time away from WWE being a positive for him: “The time away was necessary to grow as a franchise player, someone that is able to lead a company. Also, just to grow up. I went from university, signed to WWE at 21, I grew up at WWE. I was at my parents house, university was telling me what to do then WWE was telling me what to do. It was the first time I was ever on my own.”

On working in front of different audiences: “Every country, every audience is different. You have to learn to adapt. You can’t just go out there with the same mindset, match, or moves you do every single place. Some people might like technical moves, others might want a bit of entertainment. You have to be able to adjust on the fly, that’s why our job is so special. Not everybody understands that because we’re the craziest improv actors in the world. We do our own stunts, we get one take, and we get to play with the crowd’s emotions if you know how to do it.”

On his career and his match at Super Show-Down: “It’s a really fun job, it’s my dream job, and I am literally living the dream. I can’t process the magnitude of this show.”
