GLOW Alumna Mountain Fiji Passes Away
– Mountain Fiji from the original GLOW series has passed away. Fiji, real name Emily Dole, died at sixty on Wednesday as announced by Dave Marquez and Patricia Summerland on Twitter.
Dole did track and field in high school and qualified for two Olympic Trials in shot put. She appeared in a supporting role alongside several other young athletes in 1982’s Personal Best starring Mariel Hemingway and Scott Glenn.
Dole then joined the original cast of GLOW as Mountain Fiji in 1985, feuding regularly with Matilda the Hun and then Big Bad Mama. She did a few guest-starring roles on shows like Mama’s Family and in films like Son in Law.
On behalf of 411, our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Ms. Dole. She will be missed.
Farewell to my longtime pal Emily. Back in the day her @GLOW Mt. Fuji was as popular as Hogan. She made a giant impact on televised pro wrestling. #rip #mtfugi #glow pic.twitter.com/JwFy3OS95B
