Grayson Waller Recalls Getting His Best Wrestling Advice From Nigel McGuinness

Grayson Waller credits Nigel McGuinness as having given him the best wrestling advice he’s ever received. Waller was asked the question during his appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast and noted that the best advise he’s received came from McGuinness when the now-AEW commentator was signed with WWE.
“Yeah, the best advice I’ve ever got was from Nigel McGuinness a couple of years ago when he was commentating with us,” Waller said (per Fightful). “I asked him for some advice on a match. He said, ‘I don’t believe you think you’re the best. I believe that you think you need to train harder and need to learn more. When Muhammad Ali was fighting, he didn’t think that way. When Muhammad Ali was fighting the whole time he was in there, he was the best in the world. He carried him that way, and that’s why he was so good.’”
Waller continued, “I think that was fantastic advice, because as wrestlers, there’s always vets around and people better than us, and people have done it longer, and you want to learn and all these things, but like when you’re in the ring, that’s all going to disappear. I think that energy of, ‘I’m better than everyone’ is very dangerous in a good way.”
Waller has been associated with The New Day in recent weeks after having dropped his tag team with the injured Austin Theory.
