Gunther Reflects On His Royal Rumble Performance, Calls Roman Reigns A Future ‘Obstacle’
Gunther had an up and down day at the WWE Royal Rumble this weekend, and he weighed in after the show about his performance in the men’s Rumble match. The Raw star was able to retire AJ Styles at Saturday’s PLE in Saudi Arabia, but he was unable to win the men’s Royal Rumble despite entering at #30. Gunther got two eliminations in the match and made it to the final two, but lost to Roman Reigns.
The Ring General was asked about his performance during his appearance on WWE Now’s Royal Rumble Recap. You can see the highlights below:
On His Royal Rumble Performance:
“I knew obviously I was the last one, so I knew what was waiting for me. And as you could have mentioned that too — when I walked down there, AJ took it out of me. And making it to the last two with Roman Reigns? It was the first time with Roman in the ring, but my way leads to the World Heavyweight Championship or the WWE Championship in the future. So I assume it won’t be the last time.”
On If Reigns Is Someone Who Needs To ‘Step Aside’ For Him:
“We’ll see, definitely an obstacle.”
On His Future Plans:
“All these questions about the future; none of that is anybody’s business but mine. So I’ll leave it with that.”
