Brody King is joining forces with Headlocked Comics for a charity drive to benefit families affected by ICE raids. Michael Kingston of Headlocked announced on Wednesday that he and King are teaming up along with illustrator Daniel Warren Johnson. The drive will see Johnson create an variant cover for Headlocked’s Tales from the Road.
All proceeds from the variant cover issue will go to MIRAC, the Minnesota Immigrant Resource Action Committee. MIRAC is described on its website as “an all-volunteer, grassroots, multiracial, and multinational immigrant rights mass-movement organization.” The organization provides services including food and legal aid to immigrants.
Kingston noted in the block that three different covers will be available of King’s Tales from the Road story “Hardcore” with options that will include King and/or his autograph. He added:
“These are going to likely ship sometime in mid-March as we need to get them printed, the metal covers made, and I’ll have to connect with Brody for the autos. But we wanted to get them listed now so we can get the money in the hands of the people who need it as quickly as possible.
I’d like to also add that anyone who orders additional items from the Headlocked webstore as part of their order (and we’ve got a TON of cool stuff listed)…I’ll be adding that to the total we donate.”
The variant cover issue is available here, with a maximum of one per buyer.
King has been outspoken on the issue and garnered mainstream attention for his “Abolish ICE’ t-shirt in July. He donated the proceeds to Local Hearts Foundation.
