Positive Injury Update for Penelope Ford Following AEW Dynamite

As previously reported, Penelope Ford suffered a legitimate injury during her Women’s World Tag Team Titles match on AEW Dynamite, hurting her ankle during the Moonsault spot from the top of the ring post to the floor. It was later reported by Dave Meltzer that he received a message saying that they were “hoping for the best” regarding Ford’s injury. There’s now a new update on Ford from Bryan Alvarez on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live.
Per Alvarez’s report, the diagnosis for Ford’s ankle injury appears to be “the best case scenario” for the wrestler. Alvarez stated on Ford’s injury, “It appears to be an ankle sprain, and the belief is she’ll be back very soon.”
Alvarez also reiterated his earlier assertion on Wrestling Observer Radio that Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron were not at fault for not “catching” Ford during the spot, as the way Ford executes her Moonsault to the floor is not designed to be caught by the opponents.
Overall, Alvarez’s update looks to be positive news for Ford, considering she was just recently cleared for her in-ring return last month, after she recovered from a UCL tear. Despite her injury on Dynamite, Ford also appeared using crutches in a promo video with MegaBad stablemates Megan Bayne and Lena Cross, which was released by AEW earlier today on social media (see below).
In the video, Bayne remarks to the Babes of Wrath that they’ve taken a piece of the champs. However, Penelope Ford warns Babes of Wrath, “Now, you’ve taken a piece of us, but it will be the last thing that you will ever do.” You can view that clip below:
"Destiny has no time limit. You've simply delayed the inevitable."
