Newly crowned WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill recently spoke to WYFF News 4 ahead of last night’s WWE SmackDown in Greenville, North Carolina. She discussed her title win, that recent nasty cut she suffered after getting busted open on TV, and more.

Speaking on her title win last weekend at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Jade Cargill stated, “I want to continue to elevate this title. That’s one thing I want to do. I want to do nothing but be an example for the women in the locker room. I want to show people that regardless of your age, regardless of your background, you can do anything, regardless of these obstacles that are in front of you.” She continued, “I want to prove the haters wrong. All of them. Every single one of them. I want them to eat their words, and I want them to say I’m their kids’ favorite wrestler.”

With regards to the nasty gash she suffered after landing on the steel steps during a match on SmackDown, Cargill revealed she didn’t even realize she was injured. She stated, “I didn’t feel it. I think it was so much adrenaline going through my body. I didn’t know it was that bad until I was like looking in the camera, talking, and in union, the entire arena said, ‘Oh!’ And I was like, ‘Okay, this must be bad.’You know, like, okay.”

She added, “And then it’s like, as I’m still talking, out of my peripheral, I’m seeing all the women turn around. And they’re like disgusted. Because I was going to get on the announcer’s table and like, beat my chest and go crazy. And when I saw that, I said, ‘Okay. This must be really bad.’ And then our ref, Aja (Daphne LaShaunn), passed by and said, ‘You are bleeding like crazy!’ I said, ‘This is terrible.’ But in our sport, you got to keep going.”
