It’s good to be the GOAT. During last night’s WWE Raw, John Cena had a glorious homecoming in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, beating Dominik Mysterio to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his illustrious career.
On top of that, the host venue for last night’s WWE Raw, the TD Garden, announced that November 10 is now officially John Cena Day in the commonwealth of Massachusetts. The honor was officially ratified by Governor Maura Healey (see below).
The TD Garden wrote, “It’s officially John Cena Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts! 🐐 Huge thanks to @MassGovernor for the special recognition.”
The title win officially makes John Cena a Grand Slam Champion in WWE just as his career is coming to an end. He currently has only three more dates left in his incredible career, including next week at WWE Raw at Madison Square Garden, Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29, and his final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
WWE is currently holding The Last Time Is Now Tournament to determine Cena’s final opponent. During last night’s show, Sheamus and Rusev both won their respective matchups to advance in the tournament, with Sheamus beating Shinsuke Nakamura, and Rusev beating Damian Priest.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, featuring the last match of John Cena, will be held at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. It will air live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
