WWE and ESPN have been given a deadline to respond to an objection in the lawsuit over WWE PLEs moving to on ESPN Unlimited. As previously reported, ESPN and its subsidiary BAMTech received approval to be added to the lawsuit as defendants late last month. The addition of the two parties to the lawsuit was done to have the case moved to arbitration.
PWInsider has the latest update on the case, noting that the plantiffs objected to the two parties being added as defendents. The judge in the case ruled on October 6th that the parties, including WWE, have until October 16th to respond to that objection.
The lawsuit, which was filed in January by Michael Diesa and Rebecca Tobak, alleges that WWE misled customers about how to watch its major PLEs after moving them to the ESPN Unlimited tier of the new ESPN App starting with Wrestlepalooza 2025 last year. The plaintiffs intentionally did not sue ESPN and BAMTech because Disney’s existing subscriber agreements require arbitration and block class actions.
The judge in the case also said they are holding off on ruling whether the case should be moved to arbitration until the objection is ruled on.
