Leighty’s WWE Evolve Review 9.3.25

-Episode 27!

-Announce Team: Peter Rosenberg and Robert Stone
-Taped: WWE PC, Orlando, FL

-Recap of last week’s show! I appreciate these because it’s a nice refresher and can catch anyone checking the show out for the first time up on things.

”Super” Sean Legacy vs. Ice Williams

-Legacy is from Augusta, GA which is where Hogan was born. Not sure why I never connected that in past. Yes, it’s also the home of a very famous golf course that I will never be rich or famous enough to play. By play, I mean suck beyond belief but hit one okay shot and want to come back for more. Is that the swan song for Williams? We know he was dropped from his ID Deal. Lockup to start and Williams gets a side headlock. Legacy breaks and reverses to one of his own. Williams backs Legacy to the ropes and gives him a shove. Knuckle Lock and Williams uses the hair to get a take down. Legacy kips up and gets a hammerlock. Williams tries to roll to break, but Legacy rolls with him and maintains control so Williams gets to the ropes and then throws an elbow. He throws some chops in the corner and talks some trash. Stone hammering home the idea that Williams is the new face of the ID Program is kind of sad knowing he lost his spot. Legacy back with some chops as this is kind of stalling a bit and needs the pace to pick up. Apparently they realized it as well as Williams gets a dropkick and follows with punches. Legacy blocks a suplex and gets one of his own and hits a running kick to the back. Standing Moonsault gets two as Rosenberg and Stone discuss Ice Tea and Ice Cube. Legacy hits a dive to the floor as we takea break at 4:35.

-Tubi commercials!

-AAA When Worlds Collide: Vegas commercial!

-Back at 5:48 with Williams running Legacy into the post. Williams comes off the apron with an elbow to the back of the head. Back in the ring he gets a two count and then goes to a headlock. Legacy punches his way out and hits a spinning kick to the gut. Legacy with a springboard missile dropkick for two as the crowd is starting to get into this one. Shambles is reversed and Ice hits a spinning neckbreaker. Superkick (Ice Breaker) is caught and Legacy hooks at STF. He gets close to the ropes, so Legacy releases and gets kicked into the corner. Legacy hits a slam for two. Another springboard but he misses the 450 and now Ice is up top. He drops the elbow to the back of the head again. Ice Breaker hits, but Legacy is out at two. Ice back up top but Legacy hits an uppercut and they fight up top. Legacy flips out and then back up to hit a Spanish Fly. This time the springboard 450 hits for a two count. They are sure giving them amble time. Williams with some elbows and sends Legacy to the floor. Legacy connects with a kick from out there and tries another springboard. Williams hits the ropes to knock him off and hits another Ice Breaker. Legacy back with a series of kicks and Shambles hits this time and gets the pin at 12:10.

Winner: Sean Legacy via pin at 12:10
-This started a bit slow, but got rolling after the break. It was hard buying any of Ice’s near falls though since we knew was let go by the WWE. ***1/4

-Chuey Martinez is standing by and interviews Legacy. Sean says he is working on collecting wins, getting his mind and body right for whoever stands across him as Evolve Champion. Edris Enofe comes out and he is proud of Sean as he is showing real growth. He agrees that Sean is not ready to carry the Evolve Championship or Brand. This is the EOE’s brand and he is here to give Legacy some advice. He wants Sean to watch him defeat Jackson Drake and become Evolve Champion. Legacy appreciates the advice but tells Edris to start thinking of excuses as to why he couldn’t get the job done again. Slap from Edris and here are people to keeping them from getting into a fight.

-Kylie Rae is backstage and wants Chantel to use her own talents and not have to resort to cheating. Kylie faces Masyn Holiday up next!

-Wrestlepalooza commercial! No longer head-to-head with AEW, who moved up their start time.

-More with Vanity Project in their private room. They mock Edris, and Dante. Keanu is mentioned and Drake isn’t happy to hear that name. Kali Armstrong shows up and she wonders which of them will lose their Championship first. That was a babyface promo from Kali there.

Kylie Rae vs. Masyn Holiday (w/ Layla Diggs)

-Kylie offers a handshake and Masyn accepts. Lockup and Kylie gains arm control. Masyn uses the ropes to flip out and counter. Kylie rolls and flips to reverse and transitions to a hammerlock. Masyn counters and takes an armbar to the mat. Kylie counters back as they jockey for arm control. Side headlock from Kylie and she gets shoved off, but gets a shoulder tackle. Roll-up gets a two count. Another roll-up gets another two. Arm-drag and they reset and circle each other. Holiday gets a shoulder tackle and does a stomp dance on Kylie’s stomach. Masyn misses a charge in the corner. Kylie off the top into an armdrag. Euro Uppercut followed by a corner cannonball for two. Kylie hooks a reverse chinlock as this has been a very quiet match. Kylie gets put on the ropes and Masyn drags her down by the leg and gets a two count. Back Splash in the corner from Masyn followed by a slam. Half-Crab from Holiday. Kylie fights back with right hands and hits a clothesline. Another! Arm-drag into superkick. Bottom Rope Moonsault gets two! Masyn bails to the floor and forces Kylie to chase. She gets a roll-up for two back in the ring. Sunset flip gets two. Kylie with a roll-up for two. Masyn rolls out of a cross-face attempt and gets a backslide for two. Kylie counters and ends up with The Cross-face and Masyn taps at 7:22.

Winner: Kylie Rae via submission at 7:22
-This was fine and having Kylie working with the kids is a good thing. **

-They shake hands after the match.

-Chuey Martinez is backstage with Harley Riggins and Jax Presley. They don’t care about Adrenaline Drop and their flips. This isn’t the indies, this is Evolve. So, they are Evolve’s FTR?

-NXT No Mercy commercial!

Adrenaline Drip vs. Jax Presley and Harley Riggins

-We are slowly getting a tag division, so that long awaited Tag Title Tournament should be coming. Cartwheel gets a quick small package on Riggins for two. Jax in and Cartwheel uses his speed. He hits a modified 6-1-9 and Jones is in as they hit all kinds of tandem offense. Harley gets a shot in from the apron which lets Jax hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Jax hooks a side headlock and tags Harley. He hits a Back Stabber as we see It’s Gal and Jamar Hampton watching backstage. More tag teams! Harley buries a knee in the back and tries a suplex, but Harley flips out and hits a dropkick. Tags on both side. Cartwheel runs wild and gets a sling blade after all kinds of flips. He goes walks the ropes and flips into an armdrag. Neckbreaker gets a one count. Jones back in as they look for Flip N Sip, but Jax escapes. Harley eats a side kick and a clothesline sends him to the floor. Jones dives, but gets caught and they throw Jones back at Cartwheel, who was trying a dive. That was cool! Cartwheel is left alone and Unnecessary Roughness gets the pin at 5:51. Basically Jax throws Cartwheel in the air and Harley runs through him with a spear. That looked sick!

Winners: Jax Presley and Harley Riggins via pin at 5:51
-Adrenaline Drop was a good team to have out there and make the new guys look impressive. Jax and Harley sure are green, but that’s okay as that is the point of this show. Get them in the ring and let them learn. This was Power vs. Speed and this time, power wins. **

-HHH WrestleMania commercial!

-Video Package on WWE ID Wrestling Schools: Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center (New Hampshire), Cody’s Nightmare Factory (Atlanta), Reality of Wrestling (Booker T in Houston), Black and Brave Wrestling Academy (Rollins in Iowa) are all named. Part of me feels this was in response to Rikishi’s school being dropped following that ugly, awful incident.

-Stevie Turner is here to announce the next challenger for Drake’s Evolve Title, but Vanity Project interrupt. Keanu Carver then interrupts and I assume we will have more interruptions leading to a match. Yep, next is Brooks Jensen and then Ridge Holland. Here’s Tate Wilder, who gets into a brawl with Ridge. They brawl to the back as Stevie is trying to get things back on track. Drake knows everyone wants a piece of him, but he will beat anyone she puts him in the ring with. Donovan then gives Stevie the idea of Drake defending against Carver and Jensen. That match will be next week!

-Vanity Project attack and Jensen takes a double suplex on the floor. A table gets pulled out and Swipe Right, but Carver mounts a comeback. He TOSSES Drake onto the rest of Vanity Project on the floor and Jensen puts Drake through the table to end the show.

-Thanks for reading!

The final score: review Good
The 411
The opener was enough to make this a good show and the rest was fine. Getting a new monster tag team is fun and I am curious to see how they develop. We don't get Main Event Promo very often on this show, but it worked here. We have a Title Match for next week and they continued to plant the seeds of Donovan eventually getting turfed from the group. An effective use of 50 minutes this week.
