Former WWE Superstar Matt Hardy had nothing but glowing praise for John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, which took place at last Monday’s WWE Raw. The match saw Cena beat Mysterio to win his first WWE Intercontinental Championship of his WWE career.

With the win, Cena is finally a WWE Grand Slam Title winner. Hardy heavily praised the match with a message on social media, labeling it as a match that “represents the true essence of pro wrestling.”

Matt Hardy wrote, “For aspiring pro wrestlers.. Watch the John Cena vs Dominik Mysterio from RAW on Monday. That match represents the true essence of pro wrestling – Creating & maximizing emotional investment from your audience.” He added, “THAT is what matters in excelling in the art of pro wrestling, not star ratings or cagematch reviews.”

Cena now has only three dates remaining in his WWE career, including next week at Madison Square Garden, for his final Monday Night Raw appearance. He’s also slated to appear at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29 in San Diego.

Then, on December 13, Cena will wrestle his last match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. The event takes place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

The Last Time Is Now tournament will determine Cena’s final opponent. It kicked off last Monday on Raw, with Rusev and Sheamus winning their respective matches against Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura.

WWE SNME, featuring Cena’s last match, airs live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
