New Women’s Tag Team Champions Crowned On WWE Smackdown

WWE has new Women’s Tag Team Champions, with Nia Jax and Lash Legend capturing the titles on this week’s WWE Smackdown. Friday night’s episode saw the Irresistible Forces defeat Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY to capture the titles. The 18 minute match saw a lot of back and forth until the end, when Ripley was in control of Legend in the ring. Jax came up and got hit with a headbutt and Riptide, but Legend — the legal competitor for the heels — hit Ripley with the Lash Extension. She pinned Ripley to get the win and capture titles.

You can see highlights from the match below. The win marks Legend’s first run with the titles, and her first title in WWE. Jax is now in her third run with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, having previously held them with Shayna Baszler in 2020 and 2021.

RHIYO’s title reign comes to an end at 54 days. Ripley and SKY won the titles from the Kabuki Warriors on the January 5th episode of WWE Raw, the brand’s first anniversary show on Netflix.

Ripley is set to compete in the women’s Chamber match at WWE Elimination Chamber on Saturday, which airs live on ESPN Unlimited and Netflix internationally.
