News & Notes From Last Weekends New Japan East Coast Tour

– Here are the attendance numbers for last weekend’s events:
* 587 paid in Rahway, NJ (640 in the building)
* 1143 paid in New York City (1,250 in the venue)
* 600 paid in Philadelphia

– Jersey All Pro Wrestling was happy with the weekend as a whole They went the TNA route by selling autographs of the top stars on the tour, while having others sign for free. They also did merchandize deals, backstage passes and other special things that led to the weekend being one of the most profitable weekends in company history.

– New Japan was also very happy with things. After the Philadelphia show, , the entire NJPW roster and staff gathered in the ring to take group photos for themselves and the media. The next day, they threw a farewell party where NJPW presented gifts to many of the Americans who had worked with them on the tour.

– They hope to run another tour within the next year, and there is talk of the JAPW regulars touring New Japan later this year.

– The one downside of the weekend was the NYC venue, Basketball City. JAPW had booked the venue based on its website and how it looked on a promotional video filmed at the new site. When they arrived, the construction they were doing was not finished. JAPW then has to rent portable bathrooms since here were no working restrooms. They were also forced to refund money to those that had issues breathing due to dust from the construction in the room hanging in the air. JAPW wanted to book the Manhattan Center for the date but it was unavailable.

– On June 18th, MVP will make the first defense of his IWGP Intercontinental championship in Osaka against Toru Yano.

– Lance Hoyt hitting the ring in Philadelphia was a New Japan angle, he will debut for New Japan in June.
