NJPW Road To G1 Climax 36 Results 6.23.26: Francesco Akira Secures IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title Shot

As noted, NJPW held a Road to G1 Climax 36 event earlier today. The event was held at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall. As noted, Aarron Wolf and Yuto-ice won their respective play-in bouts to secure slots in the G1 Climax 36 tournament.
Elsewhere, Franceso Akira won a Fatal 4-Way bout to earn a shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title, which is currently held by Yoh. Akira will now challenge YOH for the title at the Road to G1 Climax event on July 6. Below are some results, per New Japan’s website:
* El Desperado, Masatora Yasuda & Yuya Uemura defeated Taisei Nakahara, Togi Makabe & Toru Yano at 8:47.
* The United Empire (The Great-O-Khan, Jake Lee, Jakob Austin Young & Zane Jay) beat Hirooki Goto, Tatsuya Matsumoto, YOH & Ryusuke Taguchi at 10:15.
* Satoshi Kojima & Shota Umino beat T.M.D.K. (Hartley Jackson & Ryohei Oiwa) at 10:06.
* The House of Torture (DOUKI, Ren Narita, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Yujiro Takahashi) beat The Unbound Company (Daiki Nagai, OSKAR, Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji) by referee stoppage at 8:47.
* IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title #1 Contendership Four-Way: Francesco Akira beat Kosei Fujita, Master Wato, and SHO at 15:45.
* G1 Climax 36 Block B Play-In: Aaron Wolf beat YOSHI-HASHI at 19:45.
* G1 Climax 36 Block A Play-In: Yuto-Ice beat Taichi at 25:54.
