Odyssey Jones Files Demamation Lawsuit Against Former Partner

As previously reported, Odyssey Jones was fired from WWE back in September after allegations of domestic violence from his partner at the time. He issued a statement back in January that said the allegations were false. News later broke that he received an order of protection against his former partner after he claimed she harassed and threatened him. He wants over $50,000 in damages.
Post Wrestling reports that Jones, real name Omari Palmer filed a defamation lawsuit in Orange County, FL on January 20 against his former partner, Meileith Nunez. He claims that her false accusations of physical abuse led to his release from WWE and he’s accusing her of libel and slander. He claims that Nunez “falsely communicated” with WWE parent company TKO several times between May and July of last year to make the accusations.
Meanwhile, Nunez has not backed down from her claims and in an official filing on February 24, denied making false accusations. She previously wanted to be anonymous but has now changed her mind and is okay with being identified. She filed a police report in Maitland in May of last year, accusing him of battery. Police took photos of bruises on her shoulders and legs that she said he caused. Palmer denied the allegations in that report, as well.
Palmer said that Nunez made false claims against him “both written and verbal communications to TKO Group and various news outlets.” He added that the statements were “maliciously made with actual knowledge of the statements’ falsity.” Palmer could be considered a public figure and may have to prove that there was actual malice.
In a statement to Post Wrestling, Nunez once again stuck to her claims and said Palmer’s lawsuit was ‘retaliatory.’ She intends to file a countersuit for harassment and wants an order of protection. She provided excerpts of a letter she sent to Palmer’s lawyer, Roddy Lanigan, where she says that “investigative findings from TKO concluded there was probable cause for [Palmer’s] termination based on his conduct.” The letter also included the claim that Palmer misled his previous attorney (Paul Ghezzi), by falsely claiming he filed a harassment police report against her. Ghezzi represented him in the order of protection case.
Nunez said: “This is yet another example of Mr. Palmer attempting to distort the truth in order to control the narrative and avoid accountability. The timing of this lawsuit suggests a clear retaliatory motive. Mr. Palmer never pursued legal actions against me until after he was terminated.“
