WWE Superstar R-Truth has revealed the circumstances under which he was made aware of his release from the promotion last year and his immediate reaction.
Last summer, Truth took the wrestling world by storm when he dropped a bombshell on social media, revealing that he was being let go by WWE. This led to an immense outpouring of emotions from fans and his peers on social media.
The second episode of WWE: Unreal Season Two discusses in detail the entire saga that unfolded last June. During the episode, R-Truth revealed that he was taking his daughter to her dance class that day when he received a call about his release from the promotion. The multi-time 24/7 Champion revealed that it was gut-wrenching. He admitted that he hadn’t expected the kind of support he received after sharing the news with fans on social media.
“I was taking my daughter to the dance that day. I got the call [that] I was released, and I put the tweet out. It was gut-wrenching. My phone was blowing up. ‘Holy sh*t! I got like a thousand text messages. What the hell?’ I wasn’t expecting all that,” he said.
As it turned out, R-Truth returned to the company a week later, attacking John Cena in the closing moments of WWE MITB and allowing Cody Rhodes to pin The Last Real Champion in the tag team match that also involved Jey Uso and Logan Paul.
