Randy Orton seems set to appear on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, despite not being included in WWE’s official preview for the show.
The Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, which is hosting the August 7 broadcast, announced on X that “The Viper” will be on SmackDown following his attack on Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.
The arena’s post read:
“JUST ANNOUNCED! The Viper Randy Orton returns to SmackDown after RKOing Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.” It also promoted discounted tickets using the code “LASTCHANCE.”
The local advertisement lines up with reports that Randy Orton would appear on the first SmackDown following SummerSlam. Orton made his return at the premium live event by hitting Cody Rhodes with an RKO during the Undisputed WWE Championship match. The interference helped CM Punk defeat Rhodes to retain the title.
WWE has already announced several segments for SmackDown. Charlotte Flair is scheduled to face Jade Cargill. CM Punk and Kevin Owens are both set to appear, while Chelsea Green will make her first appearance as interim WWE Women’s Champion.
According to WrestleTix, 9,138 tickets have been distributed for the Philadelphia event. WWE last visited the venue for the February 2 edition of Raw, which drew a reported attendance of 13,726. If Orton appears as advertised, tonight’s show is expected to continue the fallout from SummerSlam and address his attack on Rhodes.
