Sami Zayn did an angle with Ethan Page and EVOLVE Champion Timothy Thatcher at tonight’s EVOLVE 50 iPPV in New York City. During Page’s match against Matt Cage, which Page lost, he mocked Sami’s “ole” chants and used his Helluva Kick.
After the match, Sami confronted Page in the ring and told him he has all the talent in the world but a bad attitude. Page just walked out of the ring and disrespected Sami. Sami talked about watching Friday night’s EVOLVE 49 iPPV from backstage and missing the indies, saying he has a hole in his heart from leaving the indies to go to WWE. Sami gave props to the talents in the back and said they are the ones that will carry EVOLVE and the indies to the next level. Like Friday night, he teased big things to come for EVOLVE with WWE NXT.
This brought out Thatcher, who wasn’t happy about Zayn calling Johnny Gargano the best on Friday night. Zayn said he meant what he said and if Thatcher wants to be considered the man, he has to beat the man – Gargano. Thatcher said he will go up against Gargano when EVOLVE returns to Florida and Sami said he looks forward to it. They shook hands to end the segment.
The segment did not air on the iPPV broadcast.
