Report: Several Names Exit AEW

AEW has quietly moved on from several familiar on-screen names as it reshapes its roster heading into early 2026. A report from Fightful Select confirms that Matt Taven, Mercedes Martinez, and Alex Abrahantes are no longer with the company. While the exits are confirmed, AEW has not clarified whether the moves were contract expirations or releases.
Taven’s departure closes a notable chapter in AEW and Ring of Honor. He became a regular ROH presence after signing a multi-year deal in 2022. As part of The Kingdom, alongside Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis, Taven was frequently featured across ROH programming. His role remained consistent, even as ROH’s presentation shifted under AEW ownership.
Mercedes Martinez exits following a quieter year of appearances. A respected veteran, she previously held the ROH Women’s World Championship and brought years of experience to both AEW and ROH. Her usage became more sporadic after she announced plans for a final full-time run approaching 2026. That context makes her departure less surprising, though no official statement has been made.
Alex Abrahantes’ absence has been noticeable for some time. Long associated with talent such as Penta El Zero Miedo and Komander, Abrahantes served as a translator and on-screen manager. He quietly faded from recent tapings, fueling speculation before confirmation surfaced.
As of now, AEW has not addressed the exits publicly. For Taven, Martinez, and Abrahantes, the move opens the door to new opportunities across the independent scene or other promotions, where their television experience could quickly attract interest.
