Ricardo Rodriguez Produces First All-Indian Wrestling Event
Masked Republic sent out a press release to announce that Jesus “Ricardo” Rodriguez will produce the first-ever all-Indian wrestling event in Punjab, India. Wrestling is popular in the country, with both WWE and TNA airing there for years now. The WWE Network recently expanded to include the country. This has also led to both WWE and TNA looking for talent who will perform for them, as well as the creation of home grown talent.
The Great Khali (Dalip Singh) opened the first wrestling school in Punjab, Indiana, Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE). He hired Rodriguez in September to train students. He has been training over 75 students in a facility where the students also live. They are divided in three classes, which means Rodriguez works 9-12 hour days teaching pro wrestling, lucha libre, European style, psychology, communication skills and more. CWE ran its first event today, which will continue bi-weekly. It features all Indian talent that have been training under Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said: “I am so incredibly proud of all of my students. I sit with these students and hear about how much their families have had to sacrifice for them to be able to come to this school. I have watched them all work so hard, hours and hours a day to be able to be part of this historic event. In the past two weeks since we announced the show, people have been driving from all over the state of Punjab just to see the school. In three months we have created a foundation for the future of the CWE, the independent wrestling scene in India and without a doubt for at least a few of these students to break out into worldwide stars.“
