The Sandman says that he is done with competing in matches following his bout at Joey Janela’s Spring Break over WrestleMania weekend. The ECW legend “wrestled” The Invisible Man at Joey Janela’s Spring Break X last month, with Sandman doing the job in the match.
Sandman spoke about his in-ring status in an appearance on Insight With Chris Van Vliet. He noted that he’s done in the ring but will still make appearances. You can see the highlights below:
On If the Match Was His Last:
“Yeah, my son told me — I would have thought it probably was like 2018 or 19, but he just told me it was probably more like 2010 for Bubba Ray in Philadelphia. That was the last time I was actually in a match. Now, there’s tons of times like when people hire me to go all over the world, it’s usually to go out there with some beers, play my music, pour some beer down people’s throats, go in there and whack a couple guys. I don’t do tackle, drop down, hip, toss, arm drag. You know what I mean? I go in there to drink some beers and whack some people. It’s pretty easy pay too.”
On How the Match With Invisible Man Came Together:
“I found out about it, and I loved it. I don’t remember exactly how it came about. I can’t remember.”
On His Relationship With Pro Wrestling:
“I’m on the road maybe 25 times a year. I took a couple of my sons along, and then I got a couple of my sons here with me now and then I think we’ll go to Germany this summer. So it’s like, take my boys on little vacations and you get paid to do it.”
