Stephen Amell was not enamored of this year’s WWE Royal Rumble, believing that it was a bad show overall though he thinks Roman Reigns was the right choice to win. The Rumble took place on January 31st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and featured Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan winning the men’s and women’s Rumbles.

Amell spoke with iHeartRadio alongside his The Borderline co-star Hamza Haq. Both men are wrestling fans and Amell was asked what he thought of the Rumble. He noted that it was “bad” and talked about how the atmosphere was weird, which he partially attributed to the LED lights causing it to appear empty at times. He noted he did very much enjoy the last three and believed Reigns was the right pick to win. You can see highlights below:

On The Royal Rumble:

“Yeah, I thought that the — I thought the Rumble was bad. I did. Listen, not every show can be great. I thought that night two of WrestleMania last year, and I was there. I thought that that was like an A++ night of wrestling. I thought top to bottom, tip to tail, it was great.

“I thought that this Rumble was — I just didn’t think it was great. And I just thought that the atmosphere, it seemed weird. Like, the arena was kind of empty, or was it? It was just optically, like the way that it looks and presents is important. And I thought that it looked and presented poorly relative to previous Rumbles.”

On Enjoying The Last Three:

“I’ve been to, I think, the last three prior to this in San Antonio, Tampa, and Indianapolis. And those shows were awesome, and the atmosphere was great. And this one just — I think this one just… wasn’t.”

On Believing Reigns Was The Right Pick:

“Oh, I do too. And I’m excited for Roman and Phil [CM Punk] at ‘Mania night two. I’ll be there.
