The Miz Says He and CM Punk Buried The Hatchet Before Punk’s WWE Return

The Miz has confirmed that he spoke with CM Punk before Punk’s return to WWE, and that they put their past issues behind them. Miz and Punk took issue with each other over the years after Punk’s exit from WWE in 2014, and Miz was asked during an appearance on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez about the report that the two talked when Punk showed up at a WWE Raw taping in April of 2023.

“Yeah, it was in Chicago, and I was just walking down the stairs, and he was standing there,” Miz said (per Fightful). “We just locked eyes. Remember, he left a long time ago and has never been back, right, and it always felt like it was a ‘never going to happen’ type of thing.”

He continued, “To see him backstage, I was like, ‘What?’ So we ended up having a really good conversation, and it was one of those moments where [it was] guys talking, and we kind of just buried the hatchet, I guess you could say.”

Punk of course made his surprise return to WWE at Survivor Series seven months later after he was released from AEW.
