Thekla Is Honored By Luna Vachon Comparisons: ‘She Was a Badass’

Thekla isn’t intentionally trying to draw comparisons to Luna Vachon, but she appreciates when people see it in her. The AEW Women’s World Champion retained her title at AEW Double Or Nothing in a four-way match. Thekla’s rebelliious attitude has driven comparisons to the late WWE star, and she was asked about the matter during the AEW Double Or Nothing media scrum.
Thekla said that she didn’t consciously try to draw those comparisons, but she enjoys people thinking of her as carrying on Vachon’s legacy. She also weighed in on potentially taking the Women’s World Title to CMLL to defend it. You can see the highlights below:
On Comparisons to Luna Vachon:
“That was not on purpose. But I’ve heard that comparison a lot, and I love it. I’ve never not liked hearing it. Every time somebody says, ‘Oh, she’s the new Luna Vachon,’ I’m like, ‘Yeah!’ So that’s cool, I love being the reincarnation to some extend of Luna, because she was a badass.’
On Possibly Defending the Title in CMLL:
“I actually saw [the president of CMLL] in Vegas, too. He came up shaking my hand before noon. I was like, ‘Oh man, the president is here!’ He was like, ‘We’d love to have you.’ I was like, ‘You know, the gold is heavy. We’ve gotta ask TK.’ I’d love to be back there, honestly.”
