Update on Jim Johnston’s Release From WWE After Over 30 Years
– As previously reported, WWE released its longtime composter, Jim Johnston, who had been working with the company for over 30 years and composed some of the most memorable WWE Superstar themes in history. A new report from The Wrestling Observer (via Sportskeeda) possibly sheds some new light on Johnston’s release.
The previous report indicates that despite Johnston’s long tenure with WWE, the release was not mutual. Johnston’s contract was reportedly up, and the WWE opted not to renew his deal, though apparently Johnston did want to stay on. Additionally, the report notes that it’s been speculated WWE Music Group’s General Manager, Neil Lawi, wanted CF0$’s John Alicastro and Michael Lauri to helm the music department for the company, which could have played a role in Johnston’s departure.
