Steve Maclin was “fired” from TNA as a result of the Feast or Fired briefcases on TNA Impact last month, and a new report has an update on his status. As noted, the TNA star captured a briefcase in the match on the post-Genesis episode, which was revealed the next week to be the pink slip briefcase.

It was noted a few days later that Maclin was being “tight lipped” about the situation and that several sources in TNA believed that he was leaving the company. However, he worked the tapings the next day and, when saying “farewells” to the TNA roster, attacked Mike Santana.

PWInsider reports that, as you may expect considering the Santana angle, Maclin was not actually released from the company and that it is a “complete storyline.” One might imagine that Maclin is set for a program with Santana, who is the TNA World Champion, though such a plan is not yet confirmed. It was reported in January that Maclin signed an extension of his deal with TNA.

Maclin’s firing being a work is not the first time that such has happened with Feast Or Fired. Grado in 2016, Velvet Sky in 2015, and Christopher Daniels/Curry Man in 2008 and 2007 were all firings in kayfabe only. Other Feast or Fired matches have resulted in the “Fired” individual being legitimately released.
