Vanity Project remains your NXT Tag team Champions following this week’s episode of WWE NXT, with new contenders set to be determined next week. Tuesday night’s show saw Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes put their titles on the line against AAA stars El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno.
The match went a little over six minutes with Vanity Project getting the win. The finish came when Jackson Drake distracted the challengers, allowing Smokes to tag in. He and Baylor hit Wagner with a double stomp to get the win and retain their titles.
Following the match, a segment took place in Robert Stone’s office. BirthRight and OTM were there and made their case for being the next challengers, pointing out that Vanity Project had only defended their titles three times in four months. Cutler James and Osiris Griffin of DarkState came in and made their case for the title shot, noting that had cut their weak link in Saquon Shugars. Sean Legacy also wanted a title shot for himself and Dorian Van Dux. Stone booked them all in a fatal four-way match for next week to determine the champions’ next opponents.
Vanity Project have held the titles for 127 days, having won them from DarkState on the February 24th episode of WWE NXT. You can see clips from the match and post-match segment below.
