Vince Russo Says He Saved Bubba The Love Sponge From Awesome Kong

– Vince Russo spoke in the latest Wrestling Inc podcast about the memorable backstage incident involving Awesome Kong and Bubba “the Love Sponge” Clem in TNA. Russo, who was working with TNA at the time in 2010, talked about the incident in which Kong attacked Clem backstage at a taping after Clem referred to the then-recent Haitian earthquake, which killed 230,000 people, a “cleanse” on his radio show and said “F**k Haiti” on Twitter.

“I saved Bubba The Love Sponge’s life,” Russo said in the video (which you can see below). “I pulled Kong off Bubba. I was the first one on the scene and I pulled her off of him. She was wailing. He was doing one of these gimmicks (covering up).”

Russo noted that Clem was not well-liked backstage in TNA. Kong was released after the incident.
